iPhone: Beautiful on the outside, ugly on the inside

I have always been an avid iPhone user as millions of us are. I am 2 phone kind of guy, in fact I was a 2 phone guy before that Kevin Gates song...long before. I equally enjoyed the Android operating system as well. But in 2017, I have started to sour on iOS, especially after Apple released it's iOS 11 platform.

You're still wondering why I titled my article as I did. The iOS has become like that person who is physically, a greet looking person, but ugly on the inside.  Since the release of iOS 11, device performance has lacked greatly in many ways. New devices are bricking,  older devices life spans are being cut drastically.

I'll give you a few examples. I purchased an iPhone 6 through Verizon MVNO Total Wireless revently. Before I continue, here is a breif history with me and the iphone 6. I bought an iphone 6 around it's initial release and used it up until the early iOS 10 rolled out. While I owned my 6, I always had superior performance out of the device and it did everything I needed it to. Eventually I moved on to something a little newer.

Fast forward to 2017. You can buy an iphone 6 through a prepaid carrier for around $199. It sounded like a good deal to me. I decided to grab one for the hell of it. I immediately unboxed and unwrapped it, and I was asked if I wanted to update my software to iOS 11, so I accepted...what a huge mistake.

My device was very sluggish. At first i thought it was the carrier. I ran some speed tests, removed apps, cleaned junk, and it was got the same poor performance. Eventually I returned this device due to it being (im my mind) defective.

I decided to grab another one, this time with boost mobile, as I didn't have a great experience with the Total Wireless iPhone 6 model. Within a few days, I started having the same issues. It had to be the iOS 11 update.

I hopped online to see what was going on and sure enough, many other people were having a similar issue, and it hasn't improved. It's unfortunate because essentially,  iOS 11 has cut the life of the iPhone 6, as well as the 5s.

My iphone SE still performs well due to it being a newer model. Did I mention I own lots of phones? Anyway, with all these issues, I picked up an iPhone 7 plus from a friend.  Luckily she never updated to iOS 11. I haven't updated the device either and probably won't for a while.

Only issue I have had with my iPhone SE is battery life has waned on me. Now let's mkve onto my brother's iphone 7 plus nightmare. My brother bought a 7 plus directly from the apple store. He dished out hundreds. Everyone thinks he's crazy, but he isn't tied down to any one carrier,  and his device will be good for the next 4 to 5 years...or so we thought.

A couple of months after buying his iPhone, he decided to do a factory data reset which completely erases all content and settings. We signed out of the icloud and turned off "find my iPhone," all the proper steps.

Remind you, this iPhone 7 plus is carrier free. After doing the hard reset, this device rejects every single sim card it takes. We have talked to support, connected to itunes, and now I am going to visit the genius bar. My brother who must have a small fortune, said, "screw this," and purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 8. He always said he woukd be an Apple guy for life. I'm not surprised he made the switch.

Question is, how long until more people make the switch. How would Steve Jobs view these issues if he was still here? BTW, my bro loves his Note 8. What do you think?
